This one does not. This is a gift to Experiment Inc. itself, and it pays for administration, travel, an office, and the people holding the whole thing together.
We are not going to dress that up. It is also the reason any of the rest of it exists.
Why This Is the Foundation, Not the Overhead
There is a habit in nonprofit giving of treating operations as the tax you pay to reach the real work — a percentage to be minimised, reported apologetically, and endured.
That framing does not survive contact with how this actually functions. The enterprises get launched by someone. The people entering training were found and matched by someone. The legal structure that makes a Kenyan business genuinely Kenyan was built by someone. The honest reporting you receive is written by someone. Every other avenue on this site sits downstream of a small number of people being
able to afford to do this work.
Take away the centre and there is no engine. Just intentions.
What You Are Actually Funding
The idea itself, and the machinery that lets the idea run: enterprises owned by the mission rather than by individuals, built as the structure through which transformation happens rather than as a way to pay for it.
People who give here have usually concluded something about the model rather than about one project — that a business can genuinely carry this weight, and that it does something for the people inside it that no amount of well-aimed generosity can. You are funding the conviction that this is worth proving, and the freedom for us to put the money where it is most needed at the time rather than where it was most appealing at the moment of asking.
The Most Useful Gift We Receive
Giving aimed at a specific project is wonderful, and we want far more of it. But an unrestricted gift is the only kind that can go to whatever is genuinely about to break — which, in an organization this young, is rarely the thing anyone would have chosen to fund.
That is not an argument for a blank cheque. It is the honest reason this avenue exists, and the reason it sits at the end of the list rather than the beginning. By the time you have read the other five, you know what the centre is holding up.
